The Council of Regional Accrediting Commissions (C-RAC) today issued a statement expressing gratitude to former Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU) President Sonny Ramaswamy for his service to the Council and the higher education community. After nearly seven years, Dr. Ramaswamy retired as President of the Commission on February 18, 2025.
Dr. Heather F. Perfetti, President of Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) and Chair of C-RAC, said, “Sonny has valued the important role of accreditation and how it serves as a lever for institutional improvement and student success. He carried that message as part of our collective advocacy, along with a sense of humor, which we appreciated. We all wish him the very best.”
Dr. Jeff Fox, President Emeritus of the College of Southern Idaho and former NWCCU commissioner, is currently serving as Interim President. Dr. Selena Grace, Executive VP, Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities, has also represented NWCCU among C-RAC since Sonny’s retirement. The NWCCU Board has begun a national search for its next permanent president.
