Atlanta, GA – April 8, 2025 – Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) held its 20th annual Small College Initiative (SCI) conference. Each annual event focuses on a topic related to the Principles of Accreditation that create challenges for small public and private colleges and historically black colleges and universities. The theme of the 2025 conference was “Finance Matters: Empowering Small Colleges for a Strong Future.” The purpose of this year’s SCI was to support CEOs and CFOs as they understand and examine their institution’s financial picture. The 2025 SCI offered a CEO panel sharing success stories from institutions that have faced financial challenges as well as concurrent sessions that addressed critical issues such as financial indicators and warning signs, tips for CEO’s reading audits for effective management of an institution, strategic enrollment strategies for the demographic cliff, and preparing strong SACSCOC financial standard narratives. Over 150 participants attended the event.
