The Council of Regional Accrediting Commissions (C-RAC) today issued a statement on opportunities for artificial intelligence (AI) to support the learning evaluation process. Integrating AI into student guidance and institutional practices can help students make efficient and informed decisions on progress towards a degree, reduce administrative burdens, and generally streamline the learning evaluation process.
Dr. Heather F. Perfetti, President of Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) and Chair of C-RAC, said, “This is another example of student-centered accreditation that drives innovation in collaboration with our institutions, with a focus on credential attainment and time to degree while reducing costs and the loss of credits through technological advancements. C-RAC members are grateful that we have been able to partner with the Beyond Transfer Policy Board, Sova, and the LEARN Commission around this important work for students.”
The American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers and Sova launched the Learning Evaluation and Recognition for the Next Generation (LEARN) Commission in July 2024, and the Commission has included the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE), Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC), and WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC).
